We provide a credentialed Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to oversee in-home ABA therapy and treatment implemented by Registered Behavior Technicians (AKA behavior techs/therapists). The hours depend on the needs of the child.
Research shows that up to 40 hours/week is needed for ABA therapy to be effective. However, this is NOT the case for every child. This will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
When considering ABA therapy for your child, it's important to understand that parental and/or caregiver involvement is paramount to any treatment being successful.
We are now accepting BCBSIL private insurance, with more on the way later this year.
Illinois ABA Therapy LLC has experienced BCBAs who offer support in educational environments to both students and faculty/staff. Services are tailored to the specific needs presented by each location, always using evidence-based practices and training methods to help schools improve existing systems or develop new systems, to better understand challenging behaviors and effect positive behavior change in classrooms and individual students.
Illinois ABA Therapy LLC offers schools the following:
At Illinois ABA Therapy, we treat even the smallest members of the family! From infancy to adolescent we are here to help. Autism, or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), refers to a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication. According to the Centers for Disease Control, Autism affects an estimated 1 in 44 children in the United States today.
We are very sensitive to how ABA therapy is implemented. We take great care to strictly follow our code of ethics and follow plans influenced by peer-reviewed scholarly research.
Applied Behavior Analysis, ABA for short, utilizes the principles of learning and behavior to increase important or valuable skills to improve an individual’s quality of life. By uniting parents, caregivers, and individuals, ABA therapy utilizes the functions of behavior, data, and reinforcement to systematically teach a variety of skills.
ABA therapy should look different for every child. This is because any and all services should be customized and unique for the individual we are working with and based on assent of the individual.
The term consent in ABA therapy refers to the fact that the client (in this case, your child) understands what is going on and agrees to work with the therapist to reach the desired goal. In contrast to consent, assent is given by the client himself or herself, whereas consent comes from a legal guardian or parent.
Assent is key in ABA therapy because it helps ensure that the therapy is effective and respectful of the client's needs and preferences. ABA therapy is most effective when the client is an active participant in the process, and assent is a crucial way to gauge their willingness to participate. Additionally, assent is a way to ensure that therapy is ethical and respectful of the client's autonomy. By honoring a client's assent, the therapist is acknowledging their right to make decisions about their own body and life.
To ensure that your child's therapy incorporates assent, here are some questions you can ask providers:
As a parent, you can also play a vital role in honoring your child's assent and making sure they are safe during therapy. If a behavior or event has the potential to cause harm, act with compassion and use strategies such as providing choices around the activity that must occur.
Assent involves treating clients with respect and compassion, and ensuring they are not subjected to any traumatic experiences during therapy. It is about empowering the client to participate actively in their therapy and ensuring their comfort and well-being throughout the process.
